Last week D and I announced to the world that we are expecting a new family member in May. I can’t tell you how hard it’s been to keep this a secret (minus our close family and friends). But considering I’m now on my way to my third trimester, it’s becoming more and more apparent that I can no longer hide my lil baby bump under loose clothing. That said I’m super proud that we kept it under wraps this far, and I totally think this was my BEST KEPT SECRET EVER. In all honesty, weren’t you totally surprised to find out?!?

Now that the world knows, D and I can talk, plot, and plan out in the open!!! ^_^ This also includes sharing photos, my pregnancy brain farts, D’s funny jokes (he’s always making me laugh and smile), parenting firsts (Lil Bean’s first kicks were the best), and my weird cravings (I wanted grilled squid for a week).

Back to those kicks. Our Lil Bean is a big kicker — I started feeling kicks at around 18 weeks. And they haven’t stopped since. Sometimes I think Lil Bean thinks I’m a bounce house. Lil Bean has even kicked D’s face while he tried to listen for a heart beat. Maybe a future soccer player???

One of the biggest questions we’ve received since announcing — is Lil Bean a boy? Or is Lil Bean a girl?

Well, we’re keeping that one a surprise for now too (minus close family and friends). BUT we’d like to know what your guess might be!!! Let us know what you think Lil Bean is by participating in our poll, here.

You’re probably wondering will we be logging my pregnancy via the interwebs??? Why yes, we are! D and I hope to make our family and friends spread across the U.S. feel included as much as possible. We’re fortunate to live in a time where we can connect with our loved ones with a click of a button — either through video chats, instant messages, or blog posts.

One thing that is very important to the both D and I, is that we try our very best to make sure everyone can join in this new adventure of ours. Lil Bean will not only be our first baby, but will also be the first grandchild for both of our parents. And Lil Bean will be the first great-grandchild for my Lola. The preparation and arrival of this baby will include a village — however way we can make that happen.

So yes! We’re going to share all that we can with you. It’s going to be a wild ride for D and I, but we hope that you’ll enjoy the craziness, the beauty, and the greatest memories of our lives in the making.
